The elder brother of Brian and Roger, Don Woodcock was a great clubman who represented the Norwood Football Club from 1962 to 1970.
 
Educated at Norwood High School, he played Colts and Thirds, and during 1962 was promoted to the Reserves. Don played enough games at that level to win the most consistent award for 1962. 
 
He started his senior career at Norwood on a half forward flank. A good mark and strong kick,  he was a great exponent of the drop-kick in particular.
 
Don played 68 league games and 105 reserves games in his time with the Redlegs and was a consistent performer throughout. He was casual and laid-back off the field, traits reflected in the way he went about his footy.
 
He played in his first Reserves premiership in 1966. Named in the pivot, he was high in Norwood's best players in its win over Port Adelaide.

Playing as a half forward, he was again named in the best players in Norwood's 1969 Reserves premiership win over Port, as he was the following year playing on a wing, in the Redlegs convincing premiership triumph over North Adelaide.
 
In 1971 he transferred to South Adelaide and played another 15 League games.
 
He returned to Norwood as a league runner in 1973, and in 1974 played a season for the Kapunda Football Club before retiring.
 
Don continued to serve Norwood after his playing days were over and in the late 1970's was elected President of the Players Association, a position he occupied for the next 10 years.
