Brett Wilkinson was recruited by Norwood from the Tanunda Football Club in the Barossa Light and Gawler Football Association.

He made his senior debut for the Redlegs against West Adelaide in the first round of the 1981 Escort Cup knockout competition and later made his league debut in the third round.

Wearing a helmet, the speedy wingman/half forward showed promise in the Reserves, but failed to consolidate a spot in the league team.

Wilkinson played 11 games for the Reserves and two for the seniors in his only season at The Parade.
