BIO

Mitchell Wilkins played junior football at St. Peter's College and Rostrevor College in Adelaide.

In 2012 he played a handful of games for the Norwood Reserves and under 18s. However, after injuring his shoulder mid-season, he spent the rest of the  year on the sidelines. At the end of the season he was selected by North Melbourne in the AFL national draft.

A medium defender/wingman, Wilkins had good kicking skills and read the play well.

He was on the Kangaroos AFL list for the next two seasons (2013/2014) but did not play a league match. He impressed while playing for North Melbourne's aligned club North Ballarat but was ultimately delisted in October 2014.

Wilkins made his SANFL league debut for Norwood in round 1, 2015, the Redlegs defeating Sturt : 13.6 to 9.11. He played 12 league games in his debut year.

In 2018, after a stint with Old Melburnians Football Club in the VAFA (Victorian Amateur Football Association), he returned to The Parade and developed into a reliable defender and creative wingman.

Wilkins played in the round 14 game versus Sturt at Unley Oval 2018 when the Redlegs kicked 13 goals in the last quarter to win the match, after being four goals down at the last break.

He was included in the 2019 leadership group.

In August 2023 Wilkins announced his retirement from league football, due to work and family commitments.
