BIO
Gavin Wheaton was a classy centreman/ruck-rover, who had played 38 games for West Adelaide from 1973 to 1975, before he transferred to Norwood.
Unfortunately, ongoing knee injuries and study commitments as a medical student severely restricted his League appearances in his time at the Parade.
Wheaton made his senior debut for the Redlegs in round 12, 1977, against Glenelg. He followed that up with a mid-week Ardath Cup match against Port Melbourne but they were to be the only senior games he played, as he spent the rest of 1972 in the Reserves.
After temporarily retiring, Wheaton played some Reserves football between 1978 and 1982, but was not able to ever recapture the exciting form he had displayed as a youngster.
