John Vickers transferred to Norwood from Broken Hill and started his league career at half back. A strong dashing player, "Painter" as he was known, developed into an outstanding half forward flanker.
Vickers was a member of the losing grand final teams against North Adelaide in 1960 and West Adelaide in 1961.
In addition to his 111 league games, he played 39 games for the reserves and kicked 20 goals from 1959 to 1962.
John Vickers passed away in May 2023.
