George Verco represented the Norwood Under 17's in 1999 (7 games) and 2000 (7 games). Some of his early football was also played for the Padthaway Football Club and St. Peter's College.
Verco was a member of the South Australian Under 18's that played in the 2001 State championships in Victoria. The tall forward made his league debut late in the 2001 season and played another 16 games for the Reserves during the year.
He did not add to his three senior games in 2002, spending the entire year in the Reserves (17 games).
In 2003 he was selected in the SANFL Under 20 squad which played against the State Under 18's. Struggling for a regular spot in the senior team, he played four league matches and 14 Reserves.
Verco had a solid 2004 however, with 12 League games; he also reached his 50 Reserves game milestone.
In 2005 he played 3 games in the Reserves.
Verco later returned to Padthaway (Kowree Naracoorte Tatiara Football League) where he continued his playing career. He also coached Padthaway's A Grade side
