BIO
Michael Talia was drafted by the Western Bulldogs in 2011 from the Calder Cannons in the NAB League, the Victorian statewide under 18 competition. A skilful tall defender, he played 30 AFL games for the Bulldogs (2012-2015).
Talia then joined the Sydney Swans, but a serious foot injury in the opening round of 2016 disrupted his season.
He spent 2017 in the NEAFL (North East Australian Football League ) and was delisted by Sydney at the end of the season, having played just the one senior game for the Swans.
Talia joined Norwood for the 2018 season, and his experience proved an invaluable addition to the Redlegs defence.
He played 16 games in his first year at The Parade, including the grand final loss to North Adelaide on the Adelaide Oval.
In 2019 he made 18 appearances and received the coaches team acts award.
Injuries continued to impact his career however, and he only managed two games in 2020.
He retired in 2021 after playing another eight league games.
His brother Daniel played 200 AFL games for the Adelaide Crows.
