BIO
Tony Johnstone played his early football at Campbelltown Primary and then Campbelltown High School. He made his senior debut for Norwood against South Fremantle in the 1976 Wills Cup (Night series). The following Saturday he was named on a wing against West Torrens at Football Park. It was a meteoric rise for the 18 year old, as he had been unable to make the club's Under 19's at the start of the season.
Speedy and competitive, Johnstone was ideally suited to a wing. Playing as a wingman, Johnstone was high in Norwood's best players, in the Redlegs 1976 Reserves Grand Final win over North Adelaide
Judo was his preferred sport however. He was an Australian brown belt titleholder and had competed in national judo championships from as early as 10
