BIO
Jeff Fehring was born in Leitchville on the River Murray near Echuca on 25 July 1955. A 198 cm ruckman, he transferred to Norwood from St Kilda in 1982.
He had begun his VFL career with Geelong in 1977 where he played 19 games but was cleared to the Saints after the 1979 season where he played another 17 games over the next two seasons.
While he only scored a handful of goals in his VFL career, he will always be remembered for a 94 yards (86 metres) torpedo punt goal at Moorabbin in 1981, minutes after being reported.
His move to Norwood in 1982 was an immediate success as he led Norwood's first ruck in the Redlegs' Grand Final win over Glenelg later that same year.
Somewhat surprisingly, Fehring's two year stint at the Parade saw him play more Reserves football than League and at the end of the 1983 season he retired from senior football.
Jeff Fehring died on 25 July 2008, near Hay in NSW, aged 53.
