Edward Anthony McNAMARA
Edward "Teddy" Anthony McNamara first played League football for Sturt in 1915. Exceptionally quick, he was an important player in Sturt's first premiership. McNamara was high in Sturt's best players, in its defeat of Port Adelaide, in the Challenge Final.
He played 14 League games for Sturt in his first season of senior football but like many other players 1915 was to be his last season for some time as he enlisted in the 32nd Battalion , Australian Imperial Force in July and embarked for Egypt in November.
McNamara was discharged from the army in 1919 and next played league football in Western Australia, recording seven games for the Subiaco Football Club in 1920.
In 1921 he transferred to Norwood, making his senior debut in round one, against Port Adelaide. Norwood won the match 9.7 to 5.11. A couple of months later, he played his last League game against the same opponent.
